Do you know how to sew a button? Well, I don’t know at all. I have absolutely no idea. I must confess, I have always thought about sewing buttons a very trivial and easy job. And that is the reason I never bothered to learn it.
When I was unmarried- my mom used to sew my buttons. I don’t why but the buttons in my shirt and coats always vanish like magic. My mom used to wash my clothes and saw to it that all the buttons are intact. I never had to think about all these things.
After getting married, my wife starting looking after my coat and shirt buttons. I didn’t even have to remind her. She took care of everything. Life was moving smoothly when last month I had an argument with my wife. Now my wife thought about the perfect revenge. She stopped sewing my buttons. I also didn’t pay much attention.
In last four weeks, there is atleast one button missing in all my shirts. Now today I don’t know which shirt I should wear to the office. I am in a terrible mess. I decided to sew the button myself. I thought what’s the big deal about it. But after about half an hour of my diligent efforts, the outcome is so poor that I am ashamed of myself. This is really bad.
I can’t help but think about the small yet so important things our mothers and wives do for us. Most of the times we take these things for granted thinking that it is our birthright. Every single gesture is important. I have learnt this lesson- the button way.
Now I have to think about something real fast. I have to reach office in next thirty minutes. I am already late. Please take care. Bye.
The wife was surprised to see her husband saying a heartfelt sorry. Her heart melted and she lovingly sew the precious button on the shirt. The “common man” went to office that day with a happy heart.
