Do you love bed time stories? Well, I love them a lot. Actually I have grown up listening bed time stories. I remember, when me and my sister were kids- our mom used to tell us a story everyday at night. She used to work all day and then return home. She would then make dinner for us and also tell a story. I used to wait for her everyday. Those were very happy days. We had very less money- but we had loads of love and peace.
I feel bed time stories have their own importance and charm. When you listen an inspiring story and wake up next day- you want to somehow do good things. Atleast I thought like that. The bed stories that my mom used to tell me have shaped me a lot as a person. I am indebted to her stories.
I made it a point that my children also listen to bed time stories. But I soon discovered that I am no good at telling stories. I just fumble so much while telling them. This takes away all the interest. I tried reading stories from the book also- but it was of no use.
It was disappointing for me. I really felt bad but my wife came to my rescue. I have told you earlier also that she is very good at speaking. Her voice is deep and her manner of speaking is truly impressive. When she tells a story- then you can’t help listening to it. So my wife took upon herself to tell bed time stories to our kids. And I am also a loyal listener. All three of us listen to the stories. It is such a pleasure.
I feel that we keep on moving very fast in life. There is always one problem or the other at hand. We are mostly never satisfied and looking for things we don’t have. We must try and squeeze some moments from the frantic pace of life and devote them to simple pleasures. They are really invaluable.
I just hope my kids will grow up and tell these stories to their kids. It would be too nice then. Only yesterday I was telling my mom on phone that I am missing her stories so much. It’s been so long since I listened to them. Now today I am going to meet her.
I am in a hurry. Let me take your leave now. Please take care. Bye.
The visit to mom’s house was absolute delight for the ‘common man’. His mom told him a bed time story that day and he couldn’t help being overwhelmed and thanking God for all his blessings.
