Yesterday I went to the store room. It’s been months since I cleaned it. So I thought I just go and tidy things up. There were the old things that were of no use anymore but I had saved them without any thought.
I was rummaging through all the things when I found the crib lying in one corner. I was overcome with emotion, the moment I saw it. I touched it and memories came rushing back to me like a flood.
I remember when our daughter was born. It was then that me and my wife had gone shopping for a crib. We had absolutely no idea about how to purchase a crib. We just kept on looking at the displayed cribs and felt happy. We didn’t have much money then but we had a lot of dreams. I still remember bringing the crib home and placing it next to our bed. It’s was our little daughter’s crib and we watched her for hours as she slept comfortably.
Those were very happy days. Soon our daughter grew up. We kept the crib because we felt really attached to it. Then our son also used the same crib. It’s been so many years now. Time has really passed so quickly.
I was just standing there near the crib thinking about all the moments when my kids peeped inside the store room. They were looking out for me and were really surprised to see the crib. I told them all the stories.
We all sat in the store room talking and laughing over stupid things. For once, my wife didn’t find it all wrong. She actually brought a tray with ice cream for us and we all sat there eating it. It was a very happy time.
The more I told them about their adventures as kids, the more they wanted to know. I know you will understand- it is the stories that parents are always telling their kids.
I am happy. Now let me take your leave. Many things are pending and I also have to do some shopping for household things. Please take care. Bye.
The ‘common man’ went about doing his work. He was busy. There were many problems, many doubts and many insecurities. But the one thing that kept him going was his family. That was his world.
