I have watched all the spider man movies with delight. They just make you feel so happy. With great power comes great responsibility- this is what spider man says. Somehow when I see Peter Parker- I can relate to him. He suffers with the feelings of rejection, inadequacy and loneliness. He is a geek, he can’t express his love to Mary Jane- the girl whom he loves more than anybody else. He speaks very less and fails to save his uncle from dying.
Peter Parker is what people call a loser. And yet, only that loser has the capability to live and make best use of the power that comes to him accidentally. He has the strength of character to use his power for greater good.
Peter Parker is a common man just like me. He fails very often and yet he is a superhero. Nobody expects and can believe that someone like Peter Parker can be spider man. People are so very convinced of him being a failure.
I wonder if I ever get the kind of power Peter gets, will I be able to handle it? Will I be able to save myself from the temptations of power and use it for bringing happiness in someone’s life? I really don’t know. I have no idea. I haven’t been in a position of power ever.
I don’t know what it means to have the decision to decide the fate of even a few people in your hands. Celebrities, politicians, bureaucrats, entrepreneurs, soldiers, teachers have that kind of responsibility.
But I have powerful people around me. I have my boss who tends to pat the guy who says ‘yes’ to every line he utters. He is the guy in power and he makes the most of it to tilt things in his favour. He brings results even if that means crushing someone under foot.
I don’t know what will I do if I will be in power ever. But I would like to believe that I will not play favourites. With great power comes great responsibility- yes this is absolute truth.
Let’s see what will happen next. But let me take your leave now. Please take care. Bye.
The ‘common man’ went about his work diligently. He looked around himself and found many, many people like him fighting the demands of everyday and looking forward to future. They were on roads, in grocery stores, in movie halls. The common man wondered how many of them were Peter Parker.
