Today we are all going for our annual photo shoot. Yes- you heard it right. Actually every year, we all go out together and have a family photograph clicked by a professional photographer. This is a routine that we have been following since me and my wife got married.

It was my wife who suggested it. She is all for the professional, posy photographs. I am particularly against it. I strongly feel that photographs should be clicked randomly. They should just capture the moment with all it’s imperfections. But my wife insists that we will have a proper photograph like the ones we used to get clicked in school or college on formal days.

What should I say? I mean it is okay. This means a lot to my wife. She has made a very nice album of all the photographs we got clicked till date. She also writes one liners about our experiences that day in the album. I have often seen her turning the pages of album with a warm glow on her face. If a small thing like this makes her so happy then I am all for it.

The next problem is the kids. They completely abhor the idea. They find it weird and throw royal tantrums on the day of photograph shoot. Both my son and daughter always have something most important to do on that day itself. Then they freak out about clothes. Actually my wife is adamant that we get the photograph clicked wearing one colour. Every year she decides one colour and we all coordinate our clothes accordingly.

I know this is going a little too far. What to do? Now this year the colour  is pink. My son has declared that he would rather run away from house than wear pink and get a photo clicked. I can’t really blame him for this. I mean- pink? How can my wife choose pink for us? It’s too girlish. She could have chosen grey, navy blue or even brown. Oh no- that was the colour we wore last year.

I have no idea what is going to happen. My son and wife are sulking in their respective rooms. I need to go and carve out a mid way.

Let me take your leave now. Please take care. Bye.

The ‘common man’ had a serious talk with his son. They finally agreed upon a pink t- shirt with a superman picture on it. The son wore the T-shirt grudgingly. They all went together for the photograph shoot. A brand new photograph was added to family album by the much elated wife.
