Today in the morning I was having a discussion with my kids. They are both teenagers but behave very much like adults. They hate me when I call them kids. They ask me to grow up. Just imagine. My kids are telling me to grow up.
I love listening to their stories. My wife also keeps on eaves dropping. She has an important deadline at work and she is furiously working on her laptop. So I and kids decided to talk and pass our time.
Our conversation gradually moved to the topic of a career and I must say it was a very interesting discussion. My kids are at a stage of life when they want to have many professions at the same time. Their choice keeps on changing with each day. My daughter wants to be a professor, hair stylist and radio jockey at the same time. She says that books, hair styles and talking are the three loves of her life. This is the reason why she chose these three professions.
My daughter showed me her album where she has been collecting pictures of latest hair styles. Well- I couldn’t understand most of them. I really don’t know why would someone do that kind of thing to their hair. But I guess- I am behind the times. Nonetheless, I liked the fact that my daughter is taking a keen interest in her interests. This is a constructive step.
My son wants to become a veterinarian, astronaut and a cop at the same time. He says he absolutely loves animals, he wants to see all the planets and he wants to serve his country. This is the reason why he chose these three professions.
I am happy my kids are aspiring to take up such amazing careers. I want them to do whatever they want to do, whatever they enjoy doing and whatever that gives them satisfaction. This is most important in life. We shouldn’t waste our lives on things that are a burden for us.
I must confess that I never really thought what I wanted to be. Yes- I desired to join army but somehow I ultimately chose something that gave me stability early in life. But I am really happy for my kids.
I must take your leave now. Please take care. Bye.
The ‘common man’ was happy in his heart that his kids were happy with their lives. This gave peace to his soul. He said a silent prayer and went to sleep. He wanted to face a new day with a smile.
