Today is my wedding anniversary. I wished my wife a very happy wedding anniversary and she returned the wishes by giving me a sunshine smile. I am a happy man today. I have a comfortable home, a loving wife and two adorable kids. What more can a man want? I thanked God for his blessings.
Everyday on this date, we visit the church. It’s been a practice we have been following from the day we got married. I remember, me and my wife went with our little newly born daughter to the church on our second wedding anniversary. It was a special moment for us because we were no longer two anymore. We now had a little family member whose smile made our hearts melt with joy.
We were very young then. We didn’t have much money but we were happy. Both me and my wife worked hard. Our dream was to own a house of our own one day. We used to live in a small rented apartment in those days. I would cook dinner while my wife would change our daughter’s diapers. At night- we would wake up turn by turn to play with our daughter who we discovered very early was a night person. She would sleep all day and wake up at night.
I remember when my daughter started walking. It was nothing short of a miracle for me and my wife. We would gasp with happiness as she took her baby steps. And you know what- she starting calling “dad” first. I can’t tell you how happy I was. My wife still feels bad about it. She says that every kid in this world says ‘mom’ first but not our daughter. Hahahhahahahha. But I am not complaining.
And then after four years, our little son came in this world. He was to our delight- a day person. Both our kids became friends from the very moment they saw each other. For my daughter, her brother is a rockstar. They both keep on talking with each other for hours. But mind you- they also fight a lot. Our entire house turns into a boxing ring when they both choose to resolve matters. They are my world.
But let me take your leave now. I have to get ready. All of us are going outside to celebrate the occasion. I hope you also are having a nice time. Take care. Bye
The celebration involved a trip to the ice cream parlour where the “common man” met first with his wife. They all had their favourite ice creams and the couple bored their kids by recounting their first meeting experience once again.
