I love all the scars on my body. They are my treasure. I feel very proud of them. I don’t why people hate scars so much. They go to any lengths to hide them, to get them removed. Well, I have never felt that desire.

Every scar on my body takes me back to the time when I got it. My most precious one is there- right on my forehead. I was about fifteen then and riding my bicycle. I was quite a novice and had a head on collision with a tree. Nothing happened to the tree but I fell along with my bicycle on the ground. I realized after five minutes that my forehead was bleeding. I cycled back to home. My mom was horrified at the sight. She took me immediately to the doctor. I got four stitches on my forehead. It was quite painful but I didn’t drop a tear. At fifteen, I thought myself a man and made sure I behaved like one. The stitches were removed but the scar remained.

My second precious scar is on my right knee. I was about twelve and decided to find out what was kept in a mysterious trunk that my mom kept on the top shelf.  I placed a high stool on the bed and perched upon it. The stool was shaky but I was determined. I got hold of the trunk and as I was climbing down, the stool fell with a bang on the floor taking me along with it. My knee suffered the most as it rubbed against the floor. My knee was bleeding now but I decided to complete my mission first. I opened the trunk with utmost curiosity and was shocked. Inside the trunk were my old comics which my mom claimed that she had thrown out of the house about one year ago.  I couldn’t help but chuckle. So this was the secret.  Uptil after many days, I kept on teasing my mom about it.

There are many more stories. All of them are very close to my heart. I have told all the stories to my kids. They can’t believe that I was such a naughty child. Whenever my mom comes to stay with us, they ask her to tell more stories about me. My mom also loves doing that most. It is their precious past time.

But now I must take your leave now. My mom is coming today to stay with us. I am planning to make nice dinner for everyone. Take care. Bye.

Nobody slept that night. They all had a hearty dinner and then started the most interesting session of story telling. The kids wanted to hear all the adventures of the “common man”.
