I have just played umpire. My kids have been fighting with each other and I was given the task to reach an amicable decision. The task was surely uphill but it gave me immense pleasure and joy.
My kids are now teenagers and they have both taken upon themselves to act big. My daughter and son share a sweet-sour relationship. They love being with each other and then fight on the most trivial issues. Their fights disarrange the living room most of the times. But over the years, I have realized that it is a very economical price. I must not think about the ill shaped cushions, I should think about my precious television that is mostly within their fighting range.
Can you imagine what they were doing today? They were trying to show off their courage by making plans about breaking things at home. My daughter said that she was the bravest because she can break the television in one blow. My son said that he was the bravest because he can break the oven in half a blow. Oh my God!!!!!my precious oven.
Such was the state of things when I decided to jump in and save my precious possessions. But the moment I started scolding my son, my daughter revolted. I was shocked. I was expecting happy stares. But no- this was not the case.
My daughter and son can fight as much as they want with themselves but they won’t tolerate anyone else scolding the other. They become comrades in arms in such conditions. Their sibling love rides over everything else and they take on the world with new found energy.
Well- I am too happy about it. It’s makes my heart swell with affection and pride to see my two kids happy with each other. I pray their love grows leaps and bounds.
Finally the television and oven has been left in their happy solitude. But I can’t help worrying about them. Let’s see what future has in store for them.
Let me take your leave now. Please take care. Bye.
The ‘common man’ looked at his kids with smile as he watched them cleaning the bicycle together. They were throwing water at each other and were just happy in each other’s company.
